Our Teachers
Our qualified Early Childhood Educators and Educational Assistants use specialized skills to meet the needs of the group of children as a whole, yet maintain a focus on the needs of the individual child. Our staff enhance their skills and knowledge through ongoing professional development, monthly staff meetings and evaluations.
Jen Lockington
Hello and welcome! I’m Jen Lockington and I’m the proud owner/operator of St. Barnabas Nursery School. It is my honour and privilege to serve children and families in a career that spans 17 years. I am a Registered Early Childhood Educator and I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Then I studied in New Zealand and earned a Bachelor of Education, returning to my home town of Peterborough to become a primary education specialist while working with the local school board. I could not be more excited to learn and grow with you and your children!
Lisa Gilhooley
Hi, I’m Lisa Gilhooley (aka Hooley). Although I’ve worked as an Early Childhood Educator at St. Barnabas for the past three years, my experience with children goes beyond 35 years. Long ago, I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and worked in Outdoor Education. After marriage and raising my children, I realized I missed interacting with little ones. So, I went back to school to earn an ECE diploma for my second career….working with young children. I love their honesty, inquiring minds, and potential. To me, there is great satisfaction in helping develop a strong foundation in our future generations. I believe the best way to learn is through fun and song. When we play, we learn our numbers, our colours and shapes, the alphabet and, perhaps more importantly, social skills. Come play at St. Barnabas. I hope to meet you and your family soon.
Lauren Sullivan
Hi. My name is Lauren Sullivan, while I have over 25 years’ experience working with people in the food service industry I officially began my career working with children in 1997 with the birth of my first child. Since then I have raised 3 wonderful children now in their teenage years. I joined the St. Barnabas Nursery School team in 2005 because working with children became a passion of mine. I feel that over the last 9 years I have learned as much from the students as what I have been able to provide back. I feel privileged to be able to share my experiences and knowledge with existing and new students. My dedication to St. Barnabas Nursery School began when my 3 children attended and the relationships and sense of community that were build back then still exist today.
Lisa Zeller
Hi, my name is Lisa Zeller. I have been a teacher at St. Barnabas for the past 7 years and I look forward to many many more. I have a B.A in psychology that I feel gave me a great base for this career. My two children aged 12 and 14 are definitely my reason for my love of children and the path to becoming a St. Barnabas Nursery School teacher. I look forward to meeting and getting to know both you and your child.
